If you go to the 2016 State Fair of Texas and visit the Creative Arts Building, you will probably see some artworks done by students of DAS.
We are proud to say that we have many students who got several winning places in the competition:
15 students won the first places with the Blue ribbon
9 students won the second places with the Red ribbon
8 students won the third places with the white ribbon
21 students received the honorable mention with the yellow ribbon.
However, I believe that Aditi Vikram (9yrs. Old McCoy elementary) deserves a special shout-out because she won the Art Best of Show- Grand prize, which was chosen over 650 entries. Congratulations Aditi! Her entry was under the category of Agriculture, and she depicted a very happy farmer with his hard worked harvest full in his arms.
These winners entered the competition in the Drawing and Painting Categories of Still Life, Portrait, Landscape, Abstract Art, and Designer Craftsmen Category. This year, the State Fair of Texas offered the Creative Arts competition 2016, which includes more than 1,100 categories in 12 departments, to be entered and judged before the State Fair begins on September 30th.
Since its inception in 1886, the State Fair of Texas has celebrated all things Texan by promoting agriculture, education, and community involvement through quality entertainment in a family-friendly environment. The 2016 exposition runs September 30th through October 23rd in Fair Park. Please visit www.BigTex.com for more information.
